Understanding How Accountability is Calculated in Texas
Accountability in Texas is more than just test scores, it’s a comprehensive system designed to measure how well schools are preparing students for success. The Texas Accountability System, overseen by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), evaluates campuses and districts based on student achievement, school progress, and efforts to close learning gaps among student groups.
Each domain contributes to an overall A–F rating, which is used to inform families, guide school improvement, and ensure equity and transparency across the state. Understanding how these ratings are calculated helps educators, leaders, and community members focus their efforts where it matters most.
